Head And Neck Cancer Recurrences Detected Earlier By Routine Follow-Up Scans
Routine use of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scans in head and neck cancer patient follow-up can detect local recurrences before they become clinically apparent and may improve the outcome of subsequent salvage therapy, according to a study presented at the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancer Symposium, sponsored by AHNS, ASCO, ASTRO and SNM…

Q&A: Explain Well Differentiated Adenocarcinoma that is found on the head?
Question by mangine77: Explain Well Differentiated Adenocarcinoma that is found on the head?
My father in law just had a mole removed from his head that had been bleeding on it’s own and had it biopsed. It came back as Well Differentiated Adenocarcinoma.
I’ve researched this and found this is a carcinoma that is found in lining tissues of organs (colon, lungs, etc.) but the doctor’s office said it is uncommon for it to be found on the outside of the body on his head.
Does this mean that it started somewhere else and spread to his head?? I did quite a few searches and couldn’t find information on this type of cancer being found on exterior places on the body.
They are sending him to an Oncology Center for some tests.
Anyone help on this?

first thing i would do is wait till he gets a second opinion, have him go to a very good cancer center because they might have miss diagnosed him.then get avery good explanation from his oncologist.

Studies Reveal the Genetic Complexity of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancers
Two independent, multi-institution research teams have identified a large number of previously unknown genetic defects associated with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), the most common form of head and neck cancer. The researchers sequenced the entire protein-coding regions, or exomes, of the DNA in dozens of patient tissue samples, and the findings were published online July 28 in two papers in Science.![]()

Convergence in head and neck cancer
Using powerful new technologies, researchers have confirmed genetic abnormalities previously suspected in head and neck cancer, including defects in the tumor suppressor gene known as p53. The researchers also found a surprising set of mutations in the NOTCH family of genes, suggesting their role as regulators of an important stage in cell development may be impaired.

Want A Nose Job? Check Your Head For Possible Mental Illness First
The desire for plastic surgery, and in particular nose jobs, may be a tell tale sign of a mental illness called dysmorphic disorder (BDD), which is basically is an unnatural preoccupation with slight or imagined defects in appearance. A person with BDD historically tends to have cosmetic surgery, and even if the surgeries are successful, does not think they are and is unhappy with the outcomes. A new study released this week demonstrates a high rate of body dysmorphic disorder relation, up to one in three among nose job patients…![]()
