The Effects of Licorice Extract on Colon Cancer
The Effects of Licorice Extract on Colon Cancer
Licorice extract has the potential to prevent and treat colon or colorectal cancer that affects more than 130,000 people each year in the United States. Unfortunately, there are very limited medical treatments and preventive drugs available to counter colon cancer. Some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen and COX-2 drugs are widely used to treat patients of colon cancer. Another well-known anti-cancer drug, Cisplatin, has been used to prevent the growth of colon tumors by destroying cancer cells. However, cisplatin has various common side effects that include nausea, vomiting, brittle hair etc. Some of the toxicities are dangerous, particularly infections as it affects the growth of human cells in the immune system. Recently, a team of researchers from the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville has shown that antioxidants can help in the prevention of toxic build-up in the body. Licorice extract has been found to have antioxidant properties and thus shows a protective effect against colon tumors.
The researchers have demonstrated how licorice extracts alone and combined with cisplatin shows efficiency against severe toxicities that arise during administration of cisplatin. Using licorice, and the glycyrrhizic acid it contains, has a positive effect on colon tumors in mice by hindering a harmful enzyme. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is one of the risk factors for colon cancer and inflammation is due to the excessive presence of harmful enzymes in the colon that exaggerate and cause colon cancer. Glycyrrhizic acid, which is in licorice, efficiently works on inflammatory components by blocking the activity of the harmful enzyme. The blending of licorice extract and cisplatin reduces the healing property of cisplatin but significantly shows the anti-tumor activity of the licorice extract.

Using licorice extracts slows down the progression of colon cancer and prevents the side effects caused by cisplatin. Therefore, researchers concluded that licorice extract has anti-cancer effect and it can be used as a potent chemo-preventive agent.
Based on the medicinal usages of licorice extract, PolyDNA has developed Gene-Eden, an effective dietary supplement that targets latent viral DNA, a major factor of any cancer. It is an effective antiviral supplement that fights foreign viruses in the body, helping the body maintain a natural, non-harmful concentration of latent viruses. Gene-Eden was designed with the unique combination of five natural ingredients: Green Tea Extract, Quercetin, Licorice Extract, Cinnamon Extract, and Selenium. These ingredients have strong antiviral properties to combat several latent viruses and chronic diseases.
Gene-Eden improves the immune system of the human body. If you are interested in protecting your immune system, you should consider trying Gene-Eden today.
Gene-Eden is available on the Gene-Eden website, and also on the Amazon website.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD, http://www.cbcd.net) is a research center recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-for-profit organization. The mission of the CBCD is to advance the research on the biology of chronic diseases, and to accelerate the discovery of treatments for these diseases. The CBCD published the “Purple” book by Dr. Hanan Polansky. The book presents Dr. Polansky’s highly acclaimed scientific theory of the relationship between the DNA of latent (chronic) viruses and the onset of chronic diseases. Dr. Polansky’s book can be freely downloaded from the CBCD website.

Plant Extract May Fight Progressively Resistant Malaria Parasite And Mosquitoes That Carry Them
The parasite that causes malaria has been becoming progressively more resistance to the majority of medications over the last few years. Even insecticides are becoming less effective in dealing with the mosquitoes that host and transmit the parasite, making it forever harder to control their numbers in populated areas, say researchers from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. The scientists are examining and testing plant extracts that have been utilized in traditional African medicine, many of them are targeted at malaria…
